Oxegen 2009
The past few days have brought rain winds and shine, so how will this weekends weather shape up, loud, fun and memories. Anyone going to Oxegen leaves the weather at home with their freshly made tea, warm towels and dry socks.
So, for what it’s all about the music right? Here a break down on what I am hoping to see this weekend.
Friday Dirty Epics*, Fight Like Apes, Duke Special,Lily Allen*, The Script, Snowpatrol* and Blur
Saturday Regina Spektor, Pet Shop Boys,Squeeze, Blizzards,Morrission, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Elbow, Bloc Party and Kings of Leon*.
Sunday Florence and the Machine*, Katy Perry, White Lies, The Ting Tings, Calvin Harris Lady Gaga, Paolo Nutini, Razorlight and the Killers.
* Last year I was a big fan of the Dirty Epics but their performance was seriously lacking a but of what Sarah Jane Wai O’Flynn is know for that something special, hopefully it will be there this year. Loving the Lily Allen album hoping that her performance is as good as the album. I sawSnowpatrol playing the O2 a few months back, Lighbody’s voice was missing its deep huskyness that I love. Last year Kings of Leons performance did not live up to expectations and was a bit disappointed, however this year they are headlining the main stage so here’s hoping. Finally, I am keeping the best till last that is Florence and the Machine. Their album ‘Lungs’ is brilliant no need for the skip button for this one.
For those of ye that are heading to Oxegen this year see ye there!
Oxegen Day 3
With the sun splitting the stones , mix of wellies and suncream made this day spectacular. With most of the day planned out, but who to end the night on was still to be decided.
We began with the Blizzards, who did a great cover of Sam Sparro Black and Gold. Kate Nash very much rocked the O2 Stage with an unusual stage set. The Fratellis played their hits on the main stage and an MGMT fan caused havoc in Pet Sounds by climbing up one of the supports which resulted in the tent been emptied for 10 minutes. Tom Baxter had a small crowd in the Green Room but it was really enjoyable. The Kaiser Chiefs were next, the performance began with the lead singer crowd surfing and climbing up the stage supports. They really had the crowd in their hands with an energetic and electric set. The night ended with the Chemical Brothers and a quick stop in at the Swell Season.
In all I will definitely going to Oxegen 2009, it was a weekend of sun cream, wellies, the best of the music industry , fun , friends and photos.
