With the sun splitting the stones , mix of wellies and suncream made this day spectacular. With most of the day planned out, but who to end the night on was still to be decided.
We began with the Blizzards, who did a great cover of Sam Sparro Black and Gold. Kate Nash very much rocked the O2 Stage with an unusual stage set. The Fratellis played their hits on the main stage and an MGMT fan caused havoc in Pet Sounds by climbing up one of the supports which resulted in the tent been emptied for 10 minutes. Tom Baxter had a small crowd in the Green Room but it was really enjoyable. The Kaiser Chiefs were next, the performance began with the lead singer crowd surfing and climbing up the stage supports. They really had the crowd in their hands with an energetic and electric set. The night ended with the Chemical Brothers and a quick stop in at the Swell Season.
In all I will definitely going to Oxegen 2009, it was a weekend of sun cream, wellies, the best of the music industry , fun , friends and photos.

The biggest question that was to be answered was, with such a line up for Saturday of Oxegen would it be possible to see everyone on the hit list?
Well, with some major dashing from tents to stages we got to see everyone we wanted. The day began with Scouting for Girls and as they got the crowd going the heavens opened, however after a quick shake off everyone was back bopping.
The main stage had the best line for the afternoon, with Newton Faulkner, Counting Crows and Amy Winehouse and REM, dashes were made to the Ting Tings in the Green Room which was far too small for the popularity of the Ting Tings. Hot chip in the Pet sounds was another pit stop as were Alphabeat and Codes. The night ended with the Zutons and The Prodigy on the O2 stage.
It was a great day, Amy Winhouse was excellent contrary to maybe sceptics in the crowd. Alphabeat even impressed non pop lovers with their tunes, unfortunately the sound at the Prodigy wasn’t great which was a pity.
For me Amy Winehouse made Saturday at Oxegen, she was excellent.

Well, day 1 of the Oxygen experience has me wanting to go back for more so that’s a good sign. With only one shower of rain it was pretty much sunny all day, which to be honest was a tad unexpected.
The bands we saw today were Amy Mc Donald, Dirty Epics,Paddy Casey,Future Kings of Spain Sugababes, Saw Doctors, Editors, Munday, Kings of Leon and Groove Armada. The best for me was Munday without a doubt especially when Sharon Shannon came on stage for Galway Girl. Editors aren’t a band I would know very well but their live performance was amazing. The only band I was slightly disappointed with was the Kings of Leon, not sure exactly what it was but lost interest after a few songs.
As for everything else Oxygen, the portaloos were ok, food is good and the fun is to be had.

Fear is such an odd feeling to have. Fear can be over a sense of danger, fear while watching a horror film, or something you feel on a daily basis.
The fear that we fear on a daily basis can be described in two ways, the first is fears that can change as time goes by. The second can be something that you fear on a constant basis. The first is a fear that can change… one week it may be a fear of results, medical, examination, passing the driving test, a fear of not making a deadline, or a fear of missing out on a opportunity.
However, the second is a fear that has a more constant presence like the fear of an object, spiders, needles, clowns or fear of a place, subways, water, or forests. I have always found the fear that people have for objects, places or things really interesting. What causes them and how long do they last, do you grown out of them or do you add to them?

This is one of the best photo shops I have ever seen. The message it is portraying is great too.
An important message in my eyes. Stories can be spun, lies can be told, but where does the truth lie?
In a Society that is obsessed with being the best, having the most , and making sure everyone around you knows that you do. It’s important to think of the truth and facts before you believe any story.

Maybe it’s the weather, mid-season, sale time or have I just let my eye stray from the fashion line, but what is in fashion right now and what should we expect in the new Autumn lines? I took a look around and this is what I found.
Shoes!!!! Where to begin, well as we have seen in most shoe shops this season Gladiator heels were a big success.

To carry us through the Autumn leaves and rain , these are the key shoes for next season. The higher the heel, hidden platforms -they are all here to stay!
Accessories- It is all about signature pieces. To create a unique signature piece make a statement with the Thomas Sabo Charms. I have been collecting these for over a year now and love them!! They are ideal to create various looks, from simple bracelets with a few charms or a heavily accessorised charm bracelet. Sabo also has charm necklaces, earrings, brooches to name but a few. Below is a sample of his collection.

For the Face…. the Summer brought with it greens for the eyes and a sun kissed glow to the face with neutral colour lips. For Autumn Greens are still in -Mac do a lovely deep green called ‘Sumptuous Olive’ that I would recommend. As the evenings get darker as do the lips but ensure that you choose either eyes or lips- never both! Depending on which you choose build colour to create the look you want.
Fragrance… I am a big fan of Miracle by Lancome but I have to admit that Vera Wangs perfume collection is spectacular. I am loving her Limited Edition of Princess for the summer. There is no new perfume that has caught by attention other than that.

After driving four hours from Kerry to Dublin and seeing not one Garda car on my travels. I check RTÉ for news and I see this;
He said that the location of the mock garda car was considered with effectiveness in mind, but safety was of utmost importance. From a distance motorists see what they believe to be a garda vehicle and hopefully react by slowing down.Responding to queries as to why the garda car was facing inwards, rather than outwards, Mr Keogh says regardless of which way the vehicle is facing, or the direction the garda is pointing the speed detector in, its main objective to deter drivers from speeding is in fact working.
The car will be placed at various locations throughout Co. Kildare at varied times and no notice will be given to the public on the placements.
Story from RTÉ News: http://www.rte.ie/news/2008/0630/roads.html
I think this is probably the worst idea to combat drivers breaking the speed limit. It will result in most of the community persuming all Garda cars are fake and thus ignoring them and if people do slow when they see a Garda car they will spend up after because they know there won’t be another one for miles.
As much as I hate to say this I think the only way to combat drivers breaking speed limits is to have discreet speed cameras in numerous areas across the country.
With tomorrow being the first day of provisional drivers needing a fully licenced driver in the car to be legally allowed driving, this effects approx 92,000 people. It will be a busy week for the Dep of Transport.

The past few weeks I have had the opportunity to meet some pretty cool people. A lot of whom I would admire, aspire to or just swoon at!!
Some have fulfilled my mental image of how I thought they would be, others have gone beyond any expectation that I may have had and others have disappointed me miserably.
There is a saying that you should never meet your idol as you will always be let down. After the last few weeks I would slightly agree. I was so disappointed with one group that I swooned after that I haven’t really been able to listen to their music anymore.
One group to which went beyond my expectations is the Dirty Epics, I love them more. I honestly think you couldn’t meet a nicer, funnier, laid back group than them. As you can image I am very excited about an upcoming gig of theirs that I was invited to.Check out their new single been realised on June 13th and they are at the Button Club the same night.

As I have previously posted I have such an affinity for music. I was told before that your c.d. collection is the soundtrack to your life. It started me thinking what is my soundtrack?
Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan would most definitely be my childhood. My years in boarding school was spent listening to Alien Ant Farm, Sum 41 and Greenday in particular, basket case.
Five years in college has seen my music taste loose control. Songs like Rythm is a Dancer and Maniac 2000 reminds me of nights out in Galway. Pete Yorn, Songs for the morning after, speaks for itself. Even exams have music associated with them from Snowpatrol to Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez for final year. Razorlight and The Blizzards for final year law exams.
Recently, it has been Scouting for Girls which helped me through a break up. and I’m currenlty listening to The Coronas and the Dirty Epics. The Coronas song Grace Don’t Wait, is particularly relevant like the song, I have no idea what I am doing for the summer. The Cure by Dirty Epics reminds me of my boyfriend S, he is my cure!!
So, spend a day thinking about your own soundtrack some songs will scare you, and will never be mentioned others will bring a smile to your face. Have fun and memories!!
